Website Design 101
Web design is not just a field for the computer wizards out there today; there are basics of web design which can be used by anyone looking to try their skills at website creation. Although it does take a great deal of skill to create the high-tech and advanced websites that can be found online today, anyone can create a basic website when you take the time to learn the language of the Internet.
There are two different ways you can approach web design -- you can either work on the actual image of the home page and header as strictly an image to send to your computer programmers or you can do the programming yourself. If you are planning on creating a small 4-5 page website it is completely possible for you to do it yourself, but you will require the necessary software as well as the guides to help you learn the language syntax for coding.
For those of you looking to take on this task yourself, you will need a simple program like Notepad or a WYSIWYG HTML editor like Dream Weaver to create the coding for your web design. Learning how to use these programs is the easy part, there are hundreds of different guides online that are capable of guiding you through Internet coding one step at a time, and this is the best way to learn. It is important for you to have a well laid out plan of your web design before you even begin to try your hand at the new coding. Your website should be quick to load, laid out with no confusion for new visitors, and easy to read so they know exactly what your site is about the second it loads. If your visitor is confused for only a second they are more than likely going to head to one of your competitor’s sites.
A clean cut web design is what sells the most as your customers will not be confused, they will love the clean look, and know exactly what you are going to sell. If you try to overload your website with too much text and images, it can become so overwhelming that the message you are trying to send can be completely lost.
Once you have taken the time to draw out a clear and concise web design, you can start learning the technical information to make it happen. Don’t expect to have a website overnight; it can take different amounts of time for everyone as no one learns at the same speed. It is extremely important for all your links to work, especially the sales link when you have customers looking to buy. If the links on your site do not work than the customer immediately assumes your product will not work either, no m atter what it is.
Web designing can be a great hobby for many people and is an even better profession for those looking to take their web design skills to the next level. From here it is learning how to setup the website with your web host company and how to create the shopping cart you need to start your business.
